The Eccles Art Center is sponsoring three plein air events this spring and summer. These events are open to artists that enjoy painting en plein air and those artists wishing to take up the challenge.
The first event will be a car themed Quick Draw in cooperation with the Ogden Downtown Alliance's Historic 25th Street Car Show on June 2, 2023. This event bring around 20 thousand visitors to Ogden's Historic 25th Street. Stamping begins at the Eccles Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden at 10 a.m. and continues through 3 p.m. The painting period is on June 2 from 2:00 to 6:45 p.m. Entry fee: $15 or $10 for students under 18. A best of show of $500 is awarded with the quick draw image being use by the Ogden Downtown Alliance to future marketing and promotional items. The next event will be a Quick Draw in association with the Ogden Arts Festival during the morning of the first day of the festival, Saturday, June 10, 2023. Stamping of surface will begin at the Eccles Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 11:00 a.m. Learn more about the entry fee and rules by visiting: https://ogden4arts.org/events/competitions/ogden-arts-festival-quick-draw-call-for-entry.html Art works will be exhibited throughout the festival unless purchased. Those purchasing freshly painted art may take the works with them after judging occurs at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Awards totaling $500 will be presented.
The Eccles Art Center rounds out the plein air competitions with their plein air competition with original works painted between June 26 and July 5, 2023. Stamping occurs at the Eccles Art Center, 2580 Jefferson, Ogden between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 26 through 30, 2023. Professional ($25 entry fee) and Amateur ($15 entry fee) categories are awarded. Works are exhibited and made available to purchase July 7 through 29, 2023 in the Eccles Art Center's Carriage House Gallery.
