ELIGIBILITY
The Ogden Downtown Alliance/Eccles Art Center Plein Air Quick Draw Competition is open to all re-gional artists. The Quick Draw Competition will take place on Friday, June 2, 2023 during the Historic 25th Street Car Show Original works painted on June2, 2023 between 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. are eligible. Artists may enter more than one surface. Multiple surfaces may be stamped. Only surfaces registered are eligible for the competition and silent auction. Maximum sur-face size 36” x 36”.
Entries must be ready to hang, mounted, or matted and framed and otherwise ready in exhibition condition, ready to sell. TWO DIMENSIONAL WORK, LARG-ER THAN 21” x 21” WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IN CLIP FRAMES. FRAMED WORK MUST IN-CLUDE WIRE OR SIMILAR HANGING SYSTEM. Works will not be accepted with only alligator hard-ware, D-ring, V-ring or keyhole hangers under any circumstance.
BOUNDARIES
Artists will paint in the vicinity of the Historic 25 Street Car Show (Historic 25th Street Wall Avenue to Washington Blvd.).
WORKING PERIOD
Friday, June 2, 2023 from 2:00 to 6:45 p.m.
REGISTRATION & STAMPING
Registration and Stamping will occur on the Eccles Art Center beginning at 10:00 a.m. Stamping will close at 3:00 p.m.
Participating artists will provide their own surfaces which must be stamped before beginning the work. Stamping serves as a contest verification for when the surface is returned. Works must be framed and wired for hanging in exhibit condition, ready to sell.
Participants will return works to The Eccles Art Cen-ter’s booth at the Historic 25 Street Car Show. The art center booth is near the event’s registration/information booth.
FEES
FEE: $15.00/ADDITIONAL ENTRIES: $5.00
STUDENT FEE (those under 18): $10.00/ADDITIONAL ENTRIES: $5.00
Participants may have multiple surfaces stamped at the time of registration for the fee of one entry. Additional fees will be charges if you decide to turn in more than one sur-face. All fees are non-refundable, even if the original sur-face is unfinished.
PAINTING TURN IN
All submissions will be turned in for exhibit at the Eccles Art Center’s booth at the Historic 25th Street Car Show by no later than 7:00 p.m.. Works must be framed and ready to hang with a wire in exhibition condition; ready to sell. Works will be judged.
EXHIBIT
Works will be exhibited during the Historic 25th Street Car Show.
SALES
All work accepted for the Quick Draw Competition will be exhibited and offered for sale. Artists will establish the sale price. Art and/or car enthusiasts and collectors may purchase the freshly painted masterpieces. Sales will be encouraged and the Eccles Art Center will retain a 35% commission on sales. Artist will be mailed checks for their work less the commission after payment is confirmed on sold works.
AWARDS
Best of Show: $500
With this award the artist permits the Ogden Downtown Alliance to create and use a high resolu-tion image for marketing/promotional items for future Historic 25th Street Car Shows.
Awards will be announced at the Historic 25th Street Car Show at 8:00 p.m.
PICK UP
Works accepted for exhibit and not sold must be picked up when the auction closes between 8:00 and 8:30 p.m.
Purchased items may be pick up at this time.
