Eccles Art Center Announces Exciting December Exhibitions and Events

Featuring Modern Abstract, Petite Impressions, a One-Night-Only Short Film, and Joyful Giving with Santa

OGDEN, Utah — The Eccles Art Center (EAC) is delighted to present a vibrant lineup of exhibitions and holiday festivities throughout December 2025. With two juried competitions, a special First Friday film presentation, and the return of our cherished Joyful Giving celebration, the month promises creativity, community, and seasonal cheer for visitors of all ages.

Modern Abstract Competition – Main Gallery

Step into a world of expressive color, innovative forms, and boundary-pushing ideas. The Modern Abstract Competition showcases artists from across Utah who explore abstraction through bold shapes, dynamic compositions, and contemporary perspectives. This juried exhibition highlights original works that challenge convention and invite viewers to experience emotion and movement beyond representational form.
 

Petite Impressions Competition – Carriage House Gallery

Proof that great art can flourish in small spaces, the Petite Impressions Competition returns to the Carriage House Gallery. All works measure 8 × 8 inches or smaller, offering an intimate look at how artists distill creativity into compact, compelling compositions. From delicate details to imaginative miniatures, these tiny treasures capture the imagination in powerful ways.

First Friday Special Presentation Only – December 5

For one night only, visitors are invited to experience the short film A Blink in Time by filmmaker Tom Szalay, accompanied by a live piano score composed and performed by Joseph Cook. This unique cinematic event will be presented exclusively during the EAC’s First Friday celebration in the Performing Arts Building.
