Weber County offers a unique blend of natural beauty, recreation, culture, and community spirit—making it an incredible place to live, work, and explore. From mountain vistas and open spaces to historic landmarks and vibrant neighborhoods, the Eccles Art Center’s “R.A.M.P. It Up Around Weber County” Plein Air Competition celebrates the places and experiences that make Weber County special.
The 2026 “R.A.M.P. It Up Around Weber County” Plein Air Competition is open to all regional artists. Original works created outdoors between May 26 and June 2, 2026 are eligible for submission. Participating artists must provide their own painting surfaces, which must be stamped by the Eccles Art Center prior to beginning work. Stamping serves as contest verification and surfaces must be returned upon completion. Maximum surface size is 24” x 36.”
Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in this exciting challenge. Bring your easel, explore Weber County, and let its landscapes, landmarks, and community spirit inspire your work.
The first 30 participants will receive a R.A.M.P. and Art Center swag bag.
STAMPING BEGINS: Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. (EAC will be closed May 25, 2026)
RETURN DEADLINE: Tuesday, June 2, 2026 by 3:00 p.m.
COMPETITION GUIDELINES:
Competition is open to all artists who presently reside in the state of Utah.
All submitted plein air works must be created outdoors, capturing scenes within Weber County, Utah.
Upon registering online or in person, each artist will be assigned a city within Weber County to paint through a random drawing process.
Artists may submit up to two pieces, but may have as many surfaces stamped as they would like.
Original works in any medium are accepted, including painting, drawing, and mixed media.
Works consisting of multiple parts (i.e. diptych/triptych) will not be accepted.
Maximum surface size is 24” x 36.”
Entries must be created between May 26 and June 2, 2026.
2D clip or front-loading frames will not be accepted.
Entries must be ready to hang—mounted, gallery wrapped, matted and framed, or otherwise ready for display. All work must include a wire. Works will not be accepted with only alligator hardware, D-rings, V-rings, or keyhole hangers under any circumstance. Click here to review the EAC’s framing guidelines.

WORKING PERIOD: Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. – Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.
RECEIVING: Tuesday, June 2, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, June 5, 2026 | 11:00 a.m.

LIABILITY:
Every reasonable precaution will be taken to protect work submitted. Work after July 1, 2026 are left at artist’s own risk and storage charges may accrue. Works left at the Center for over 90 days will be deemed abandoned and disposed of at the Board’s discretion. The Eccles Art Center does not accept responsibility for works damaged due to incorrect or poor framing.
SALES:
Sales will be encouraged, but are not required. The Eccles Art Center will retain a 35% commission on sales.
AWARDS:
Best of Show: $500.00
First Place: $300.00
Second Place: $200.00
Third Place: $100.00
Best of Show will be donated to the Weber County R.A.M.P. Commission for display in the commission office with artist recognition.
PICK-UPS:
Works accepted for exhibit and not sold must be picked up June 29, 2026 & June 30, 2026 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. & 4:30 p.m.

OPENING RECEPTION & EXHIBIT
A reception for artists, friends, and the community will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Art Center Carriage House. Awards will be posted that day. The exhibit will be on display June 5, 2026 through June 27, 2026.
This project has received funding from Weber County RAMP, Ogden City, and is supported by the Utah Arts Council, with funding from the State of Utah and the National Endowment for the Arts.
ENTRY FEES & FORMS
$20.00 entry fee
$5.00 for 2nd entry (after initial entry fee)
*Members with an "Artist Membership" will receive 2nd entry free.
Entry fees are used for prize money and publicity and are non-refundable.
Entries must be clearly identified by the artist with title, medium and price/insurance value. Identification tags will be provided at the time of entry.
The $20 entry fee will cover one entry, artists may enter up to 2 pieces with a fee of $5 for the second entry. Eccles Art Center Members at $35 Artist level are entitled to their 2nd entry free of charge. The fee for the 2nd piece will be charged when the paintings are received.
