The Eccles Art Center's annual Women: The Creative Edge competition is now open for registration.
This competition is a celebration of women in art, in honor of Women's History Month, and International Women’s Day on March 8th. This year's competition theme will be #InspireInclusion.
ENTRY SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- This competition is open only to women artists currently residing in Utah
- Original works in visual art media including paintings, drawings, and original prints such as woodcuts, monoprints, etchings, graphics, pottery, sculpture, and textiles are eligible.
- REPRODUCTION PRINTS such as giclee and PHOTOGRAPHS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE.
- ALL 2-Dimensional entries, regardless of size, MUST have a hanging wire on the back for submission. Entries submitted with only alligator hardware, D-ring, V-ring, or keyhole hangers will NOT be accepted. Please click here to read our framing requirements.
- Artists may submit up to two works. Entries must be younger than two years old, and cannot have been accepted into any previous EAC competition.
- There is no theme requirement for entries, but we encourage artists to explore this year's theme, #InspireInclusion.
ARTWORK DROP OFF:
Artwork must be received at the Eccles Art Center during regular gallery hours February 19 through 23, 2024. The Eccles Art Center is not responsible for works damaged due to incorrect or poor framing. Artists will be responsible for delivery and retrieval and any fees that may be incurred due to shipping. Works must be exhibit-ready.
SCHEDULE:
- February 19 through 23, 2024 - Artwork received at the Eccles Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden Utah 84401. The EAC is not liable for artwork while in transit. Deliveries are accepted between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- February 26 – 27, 2024 - Artists notified of work accepted for exhibit.
- March 1, 2024 - 5 to 9 p.m. Artist reception, awards posted, meet and greet.
- April 1 & 2, 2024 - Unsold artwork available to be retrieved.
AWARDS: A total of $1500 in prizes will be awarded.
First Place: $500.00
Second Place: $300.00
Third Place: $200.00
(5) Honorable Mentions: $100.00
SALES: The Eccles Art Center will retain a commission of 35% on works sold during the exhibition.
EXHIBIT OPENING:
Women: The Creative Edge Competition exhibit will be open to the public March 1 through 30, 2024 during regular gallery hours: weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is complimentary. An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 1st, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
