Art in Green Competition Exhibit

The Eccles Art Center (EAC), 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden, invites the community to experience two exciting exhibitions this September: Art in Green in the Main Gallery and the creative works of Karen Thurber in the Carriage House Gallery. Both exhibits will open with a reception on Friday, September 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. during Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll, and will continue through Saturday, September 27, 2025.

Art in Green – Main Gallery

The highlight of September at the Eccles Art Center is Art in Green, the latest in the EAC’s Chromatic Challenge series. This vibrant, juried exhibition dares Utah artists to explore the full spectrum of green—its natural abundance, cultural symbolism, and emotional resonance. From emerald to sage, lime to jade, artists showcase how a single color can transform mood, theme, and storytelling.

The result is a gallery filled with variety and energy: landscapes bursting with life, abstracts pulsing with rhythm, and works in clay, painting, and mixed media that capture the essence of growth, renewal, and vitality. Visitors will step into a celebration of creativity where the power of green is at the forefront.

Karen Thurber – Carriage House Gallery

Complementing the Main Gallery, the Carriage House Gallery will feature the works of Utah artist Karen Thurber. While Thurber works in a number of mediums, she is especially recognized for her intricate collage—layered pieces that combine storytelling with fine detail and expressive technique. Her work provides a thoughtful counterpoint to the bold chromatic energy of the Main Gallery, rewarding close viewing and reflection. 100% of Karen’s proceeds will be donated to the ACLU of Utah.
