Mahjong for Begininers
Discover the fun of Mahjong at the Eccles Art Center! This welcoming four-week class introduces beginners to a tile game filled with strategy, friendly competition, and opportunities to connect. Instruction follows the National Mahjong League Rules (American).
During the first two weeks, you’ll learn to recognize the tiles, understand the rules, and build a hand. In week three, you’ll practice your new skills, ask questions, and grow more comfortable with the game. The final week brings everything together for a relaxed session of play with your classmates.
Each class builds on the previous week’s lessons, so attending every class is important to learning the next steps. Please bring reading glasses if you need them to read small print.
Come on your own or bring a friend – no previous experience is necessary!
Location: Eccles Art Center
Class format: Four weekly sessions – two weeks of instruction, one week of practice, and one week of play.
Dates: Wednesdays, October 28 – November 18, 2026
Time: 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Price: $125 for 4 Week Class – including the “2026-2027 American Mahjong Beginner's Guide,” and the 2026 American Mahjong Cards
