FACES 2026
Every face has a story—show us yours! The Eccles Art Center invites artists working in all mediums to enter “Faces,” a juried competition celebrating faces of all kinds. Human, animal, or imagined—we’d love to see your take.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Friday, October 30, 2026
COMPETITION GUIDELINES:
Artist eligibility
- FACES is open to artists who currently reside in Utah.
- Each artist may enter up to two pieces.
- Works with multiple parts, such as diptychs or triptychs, will not be accepted.
Theme
- Artwork should explore faces of all kinds.
- Faces may be human, animal, imagined, or abstract.
- Consider the expressions, identities, and stories they convey.
Eligible artwork
- Original works in any medium are eligible, except as noted below. Examples include paintings, original prints, monoprints, drawings, photography, graphics, pottery, sculpture, textiles, and mixed media.
- Entries must have been created within the last two years.
- Entries must not have been previously exhibited in an Eccles Art Center–sponsored juried exhibit.
Artwork not accepted
- Reproduction prints, including giclées.
- Artwork generated wholly or in part by artificial intelligence (AI).
Digital art
- Digital art must be created directly by the artist using tools such as tablets, styluses, and art software.
- All entries must be original works conceived and produced solely by the submitting artist.
- Photography, scanned images, found graphics, stock imagery, and AI-generated content do not qualify as digital art for this competition.
Size limits
- 3D entries may not exceed 60 inches in length or width.
Display and framing requirements
- All entries must be ready for display: ready to hang, mounted, gallery wrapped, or matted and framed, as appropriate.
- 2D clip frames and front-loading frames will not be accepted.
- Framed artwork must include wire or a similar hanging system.
- Artwork with only alligator hardware, D-rings, V-rings, or keyhole hangers will not be accepted under any circumstance.
- Please review the Eccles Art Center framing guidelines before entering.

Work will not be accepted after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026
LIABILITY:
Every reasonable precaution will be taken to protect work submitted. Work not accepted for exhibit left after November 6, 2026 and accepted work left at the Art Center after December 4, 2026 are left at artist’s own risk and storage charges may accrue. Works left at the Center for over 60 days will be deemed abandoned and disposed of at the Board’s discretion. The Eccles Art Center does not accept responsibility for works damaged due to incorrect or poor framing.
SALES:
The Eccles Art Center will retain a 35% commission on sales. Selling your work is encouraged, but is not required.

Third Place: $100.00
Director’s Award: $100.00
Honorable Mention (2): $50
PICK-UPS:
Work not accepted must be picked up on or before November 6, 2026 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. & 4:30 p.m.
Works accepted for exhibit and not sold must be picked up December 4, 2026 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. & 4:00 p.m.

OPENING RECEPTION & EXHIBIT
A reception will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Art Center. Awards will be posted at the reception.
The exhibit will be on display November 6, 2026 through November 28, 2026.
This project has received funding from Weber County RAMP, Ogden City, and is supported by the Utah Division of Arts & Museums, with funding from the State of Utah and the National Endowment for the Arts.
ENTRY FEES & FORMS
$10.00 per entry
$5.00 per entry for members of the Art Center
*Members with an "Artist Membership" will receive one free entry into this competition
Entry fees are used for prize money and publicity and are non-refundable.
Entries must be clearly identified by the artist with title, medium and price/insurance value. Identification tags will be provided at the time of entry.
Notification of jury results will be emailed to the address you provide.
