Oil Painting Basics

Explore the basics of this medium or refresh your skills. Participants will learn to mix colors, basic color schemes, color values and range, cool and warm shadows, the use of brighter colors to suggest light, and the technique of painting wet in wet. This class is recommended for beginning and intermediate students. A supplies list will be made available to registered students. Class limits are set at a minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 12 students.

Instructor: Stephen Hedgepeth paints in two different mediums, gouache and oils. His work s hold a strong sense of design, and a subtle use of color maintaining a sense of place.

Mr. Hedgepeth has many exhibits and competitions to his credit including the Springville Art Museum, Taos Art Center, and Arts for the Parks, Jackson Hole Wyoming.

Mr. Hedgepeth has taught seminars at the Valley Art Center, Jackson Hole Wyoming and at BYU-Idaho. He has also taught as a part-time arts specialist in Ogden City Schools.
