Diversity in the 18th Biennial Black & White Competition

Two Artists Represented in the Black & White Competition

The Eccles Art Center’s Statewide Competitions bring a great diversity to the center.  With the 18th Biennial Black & White Competition, visitors may view paintings, woodcuts, photography, fiber, digital art, sculpture and drawings.  This exhibit has work from artist that live in Erda, Paradise, Beaver Dam, Providence, Tooele, Magna, Mt. Pleasant, Midvale, Park City, Highland, Salt Lake City, Springdale, Orem, Ogden as well as many other Utah towns.  One of the most interesting display of diversity comes in the ages of the artists represented with Pilar Pobil age 95 and Sydney Morris age 10, both represented with work in the exhibit.  A total of 154 artists submitted art for consideration.  The juror, Lester Lee of Clarksville chose 163 works to be included in the exhibit which is presented in the Eccles Art Center’s Main Gallery, Second Floor Gallery and the Carriage House Gallery.  Regular gallery hours are Weekdays 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 3.
