Eccles Art Center October 2020 Exhibit

The Eccles Art Center will be opening new exhibits October.  The paintings of Mac Stevenson of North Ogden and the Windfall Wood art of Joe Deru of Ogden will be on display in the Main Gallery; while in the Carriage House Gallery Melissa Flattery of Pleasant View art is featured.  A reception for the artists is scheduled during the First Friday Stroll, October 2, 2020 from 5 to 8 p.m.  Exhibits continue through October 31, 2020

Mac Stevenson is known for his landscapes with brilliantly, colored skies and clouds, and they will be included in this exhibit.    Stevenson exhibits locally in Gallery 25 on Ogden’s historic 25th street.  His work is represented nationally in galleries in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and New Buffalo, Michigan.

Joe Deru with his Windfall Wood art turns a variety of wooden vessel into three dimensional art forms with a satiny finish.  His bowls and vases often incorporate the blemishes, cracks or holes of the wood along with its live edge to create unique works with a radiant beauty.

Melissa Flattery has titled her exhibit: “Wistfulness and Whimsy” She says that “Despite enjoying several diverse media in my studio, I am currently focused on creating contemporary abstract art. Each piece is unique.  This exhibit primarily reflects my pure joy for finally having the time, resources, and freedom to create. I served in the US Air Force for more than 20 years from 1992-2012–a career primarily defined by rigid restraint. Upon retirement, I immediately began pursuing art on a full- time basis. I utilize vibrant colors and an organic style to create art that is truly accessible and perhaps diametrically opposed to my previous life. In giving life to my creations, it is sometimes challenging to send them out into the world, but I never expect you to see my art with my eyes. I eagerly invite you to interpret what you see from your own unique perspective. If my art opens new doors or inspires in new or different ways, that makes me very happy. The art displayed in this exhibit reflects my unconstrained wistfulness and whimsy.”
