The "Traces of the West" is an invitational competition/exhibit held in association with "Ogden Pioneer Days", a celebration commemorating the 1847 settling of the state of Utah . This celebration hosts parades, concerts, the induction of honorees to the Utah Cowboy Hall of Fame, the crowning of Miss Rodeo Utah, and culminates with one of the longest running PRCA rodeos in the USA. The Eccles Community Art Center's/Ogden Pioneers Days' Traces of the West Invitational is now in its fourth year. The Eccles Community Art Center, Ogden Pioneer Days Foundation and members of the arts community are excited to showcase the work of great artists and great art work. We are committed to the establishment of the Traces of the West as a premier art event in the Western United States.
The Eccles Community Art Center and the Ogden Pioneer Days Foundation are honored to extend a invitation to you to participate in the 2017 Traces of the West invitational Competition/Exhibit.
Artists that are participating in 2017 include:
Allen Brockbank, Keith Dagley, Shawn Didyoung, Barbara Summers Edwards, Glen Edwards, Brent Flory, Bonnie Frucci, Mike Gardner, Jerry Hancock, George Handrahan, HR Kaiser, Cara Koolmees, Elizabeth Robbins, John Steele, Don Weller, Daren Wilding, and Jeff Wolf.
Participation fee is $75 per artist to submit up to three pieces. For any artist wishing to submit additional pieces, an additional fee of $25 per piece will be charged. Artists are limited to a total of five pieces ( a $125 participation fee). As this is an invitational competition, there will not be a jury process. It is up to the artist to submit their best work. Artist will be responsible for delivery and return shipping fees. The Traces of the West will retain a commission of 35% on works sold during the exhibit.
A total of $ 5,000 in prize money will be awarded.

Two Dimensional Art: Drawing (Charcoal, graphite, etc.), Painting (Oil, water, acrylic, etc.), Photography (digital, traditional, etc.)
Three Dimensional Art: Sculpture (casting, fabrication, carving, etc.), Cowboy gear (saddle making, silver, braiding, etc.)

June 26 - 30, 2017 - Art work received at Eccles Community Art Center. Traces of the West is not liable for art work while in transit.
July 7, 2017 - 5 to 8 p.m. artist reception, awards posted, meet and greet, refreshments served in association with Ogden's First Friday Art Stroll.
July 4, 2017 - ECAC closed for holiday
July 19 - 24, 2017 - A traveling display from the exhibit will be on view at the rodeo reception center during the evening rodeo. Business cards appreciated.
July 24, 2017 - People's Choice award announced at the final night of the rodeo.
August 1 - 5, 2017 - Unsold art available to retrieve /returned
Traces of the West exhibit is open to the public during July 3 through 29, 2017 during standard gallery hours Weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. closed holidays and Sunday. Admission is complimentary.

The Ogden Pioneer Days Foundation, Eccles Community Art Center, and Traces of the West are not liable for art work while in transit. It is understood that the afore mentioned entities will insure submitted works to the Traces of the West Competition from invited artists for 1/2 retail price from June 26 through August 5, 2017. The artist does hereby release the afore mentioned entities from any and all liability after August 5, 2017. Responsibility cannot be accepted for works damaged due to incorrect or poor framing.
